Повреждение лицевого нерва при операциях на околоушной железе

Abstract

We reviewed 113 patients who underwent excision of benign parotid tumors between 2011-2013 at the 11th Minsk-city Municipal Hospital, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The facial nerve was dissected using an antegrade and retrograde approaches. In most cases the tomours localized in the central or lower part of parotid gland, mainly buccal and marginal mandibular branches were dissected. The marginal mandibular branch had no anastomosis with other branches. After 6 month 4 (57%) patients had marginal mandibular nerve paresis, 2 (29%) — marginal mandibular and buccal branches weakness and 1 (14%) buccal and zygomatic branches dysfunction.
